Present, Joyful and Filled with Peace

My crew! While Andre turns the pedals, I clean and lube the chain. Isabella plays hopscotch in the background; Adam takes the photos. How lucky am I!! We went on an amazing ride on Saturday. The sky shone a vibrant blue. The ocean was as still as it must have been several centuries ago when Lewis and Clark decided to call it "Pacific". I usually consider that a misnomer, but today competely accurate. There was the slightest of breezes as we head up the coast. We took a turn inland after about 8 miles - down country roads and up a steepish hill- until we reached the most beautiful view of the California coast that I have ever seen. Green, rolling hills down to steep, rocky cliffs and the aforementioned pacific Pacific Ocean. Felt completely present, joyful and filled with peace.

So different and yet completely the same as my training of last week! We spent my birthday weekend in Tahoe. After 10 years in Colorado, it doesn't quite feel like a proper birthday if there is no snow involved. This year, we decided that skiing didn't make sense. Isabella wasn't interested; Andre is too little; Adam's knee bothers him. And I didn't feel like being without them. So, we did some snow play in the morning. In the afternoon while Isabella played at a mini-camp, we took Andre for an hour and a half snowshoe (in 6 feet of new snow!!). Gorgeous. The world washed with white. Felt completely present, joyful and filled with peace.
